IS CORONAVIRUS REAL? MOST SEEM TO THINK ITS NOT

Since actions speak louder than words, most people don’t seem to think Coronavirus is real!

Currently, the most vital news that is shaking the world more than anything else is the outbreak of Coronavirus. Ever since the first case that began in Wuhan, China, was announced in January 2020, the virus has spread rapidly globally resulting in many deaths. News outlets around the world report on this chronic virus “LIVE” to keep everyone informed on everything related to this outbreak. 13 hours ago, California has also declared a state of emergency after the first Corona Virus death was confirmed. Total number of confirmed cases has reached 96,950, with 3,311 dead.

While this virus has been spreading rapidly and health professionals are doing all they can, we have observed that we as individuals are not doing the same. For the last 6 days we have been closely studying people and their actions in taking necessary preventive measures to stay safe; knowing how serious this virus is and how quickly it’s spreading. We looked at customers in cafés, employees in office settings, shoppers in grocery stores and malls and it has been disappointing to see how poorly people continued to live their lives and fail to take simple preventive actions.

IGNORANCE CAN BREED DEATH

People still bite their nails after their hands have been touching all things within their reach, cough without covering their mouth. We have noticed people walking straight from their cubes to the kitchen, grabbing an apple and eating it without having to wash their hands, or the apple first. Some even continue to post on social media their fun times in hookah lounges, passing their hookah around with everyone smoking from the same pipe.

It’s very amusing to see that when people think about accidents, death or a virus, they think it can happen to anyone else but them. They believe they have some sort of superpowers that exclusively shields them from anything bad .

Think about it though, this has been the way humans operate since the beginning of time. For example, what driver doesn’t know that drinking and driving can kill you? All drivers know that not only can drunk driving end their life but someone else’s who happens to be on the road too.  Which smoker doesn’t know that smoking kills? Everyone knows smoking is bad for your health, that it causes cancer and a possible failure of every organ in your body. It says so on the pack! SMOKING KILLS! But people still smoke.

Everyone knows that washing your hands is the basic form of keeping yourself clean and healthy, but people hardly wash their hands even after learning about this deadly outbreak. Everyone knows that if you have a flu, you should probably avoid public settings so that you don’t spread the virus or end up getting something else in the process. But people still cough and go around public setting while sick.

Sometimes, it feels like people go out of their way to do the things that they know they should not be doing; even when death is the possible outcome. For Christians, this action of the human race dates back to when God told Adam and Eve not to eat the forbidden apple from the garden of Eden or it means death. But they did it anyway and death is the price they had to pay, until we were given a second chance by the coming of Christ, 5,000 years later.

This is a good time to stop biting your nails too

What is the point here?

We all know that Coronavirus is deadly. We all know how fast its spreading. Hence, can we at a minimum take the preventive measures seriously to keep ourselves safe and our family safe? While masks have been flying off store shelves quickly, we can’t stress enough on how masks are not effective methods unless you are a health care worker.

The basic, most logical and important preventive measures are:

·         Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty

·         Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. This is a Good time to stop biting your nails too.

·         Stay home when you are sick.

·         Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

·         Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

The Center of Disease Control (CDC) does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.

To reiterate and as stated by CDC, facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).

These preventive measures are all cost effective meaning FREE! The only price that applies is using commonsense. Anything against that will cost you a casket! Take this to mean literal.

Stay Safe and Keep others safe in doing so.
